Considering my penchant for books with pictures in them, it's no wonder that I'm drawn to Mike Stilkey's sculptures of books with pictures on them. Though not graphic art, Mike's way of bringing together words and pictures on a very unique canvas to be original and thought-provoking. I could see him bringing a super hero motif into his art any time.
Mike's lives and works in Los Angeles. If you're in the Denver area, stop in to the David B. Smith gallery to see his solo exhibit, "Words Fail Me." His book sculptures will be showing there through October 10th.
