One week from today, as basted turkeys cook to a golden brown in ovens across America, Macy's 83rd Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade will welcome back its greatest hero -- Spider-Man!
That's right, true believers. Marvel Comics' resident wall- crawler returns to Macy's Parade with his all-new look after an eleven year absence.
This year, Spider-Man sports an updated costume (his predecessor, which first debuted in 1987, was designed by legendary comics artist John Romita, Sr.) and gestures to the adoring crowd with trademarked web-shooting style. Spidey stands a whopping 29.1 feet tall and is 75 feet in length and comes just under 38 feet in length.
Spider-Man is the only superhero to join Macy's this year, but he won't be the only animated icon floating about the Parade's brand new 7th Avenue route. Pikachu (from Pokemon), Snoopy, Kermit the Frog, Shrek, and Mickey Mouse are just a few of the folks keeping Spidey company on his second inaugural run.
So will the Sesame Street Workshop's Abby Cadabby -- and we'll be giving it up just as loud for her as old web head himself. Spider-Man may be our hero, but that Abby...we guess we really just like her name. Pretty cool, don't you think? See more pics of the Amazing Inflatable Spider-Man at Marvel.com! [Link]
