Basic Television: A Minimalist Approach to Pop-Tele

Minimalism: Chiefly American style in painting and sculpture than developed in the 1960's largely in reaction against abstract expressionism, shunning illusion, decorativeness, and emotional subjectivity in favor of impersonality and simplification of form.

In a nutshell, minimal art is where something is stripped down to its fundamental nature. Graphic designer Albert Exergian did exactly to a bevy of pop culture's favorite shows.
By marrying each show's core concept with basic, bold colors and very simple shapes, Exergian's Minimalist approach to today's TV is eye-popping and thought -provoking. We've posted a half-dozen of our faves here, and we should note that Exergian's already labeled his pieces so we don't have to. But we do have to know if our dabblers like what they see. So tell us: do you think he pulls these posters off with absolute artistry, or does this Minimalist style take minimal talent? Leave us Back Issues to let us know. And if you're not sure, you'll find another dozen shows minimally represented over on Exergian's own website [Link] as well as his blog [Link].
