November brought immortality to Star Trek's two leading men -- and no, we're not talking about JJ Abrams or Chris Pine.
After all those Classic Trek episodes of watching William Shatner's Captain Kirk brawl with his body double - Mirror Universe doppleganger, transporter room malfunction freak, or otherwise -- yet never quite consummating things the way we know he'd want to, Shatner finally got his chance to make good November 6th.
Yes, that's Bill Shatner [below] next to himself, in a photo snapped at Madame Tussuad's Wax Museum in Hollywood. It's not quite a statue, but at least Bill can claim that after they made him, they broke the mold. We don't care that it happened to be a wax mold, we're just glad Captain Kirk -- seen here sporting his Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn uniform -- got a chance to make it into one of Hollywood's more popular Halls of Fame. Speaking of long overdue Hall of Fame credits, Star Trek's creator Gene Roddenberry -- who we've got pictured [below] with his wife, the late Majel Barrett Roddenberry -- will be inducted into the TV Academy Hall of Fame, albeit a little late. Roddenberry passed away over 18 years ago, and while the Academy didn't give its reasons for Roddenberry's overly tardy and posthumous honor, they did acknowledge that he "challenged and shaped popular culture" while entertaining the world royally in the process.
The Academy will be publicly honoring all its newest inductees this January 20th, 2010 in Beverly Hills, CA. [Link] You can bet we'll be watching, and raising a glass of champagne in the process. Congratulations, Gene. You've deserved this for a long, long while.
